Addressing The Truths And Myths Of Energy Deregulation

The model legislation for Energy Deregulation was passed over eight years ago in Pennsylvania. At that point PECO Energy the energy provider in our area gave us a list of energy providers that were authorized by PECO for PECO customers to switch to if we had chosen. At that time advertising from outside energy companies were nearly nonexistent. Since January 1, 2011 this has all changed. Energy companies are now permitted to advertise and solicit their services competing with other energy companies and PECO Energy. This is a Win – Win for the consumer and the Energy Companies. As Energy Deregulation enters other states there are many other positive changes that will occur for those particular states, their consumers and the energy companies. Some states in this country are not producing enough electricity and other energy sources to provide for their needs. California is a prime example of this. California is working on their Deregulation Legislation as you read this entry. Other states have an abundance of energy products. By opening the markets to other Energy Companies who will be the companies that can provide the energy where it is needed, and to help ease the energy burden on the incumbent energy providers or generators in that state or area. Finally opening these markets to other companies allows a company like PECO (Exalon­) to offer energy products in other markets instead of only their designated operating areas.

How Does Energy Deregulation Work For Me?

First you need to understand who the Incumbent is. The incumbent is the energy provider (Generates the Electricity) and/or the distributor. In our case the Incumbent is PECO Energy. PECO themselves are not the energy generators. Exelon Corporation is the energy provider for PECO or the generating company. PECO ts a division of Exellon Corperation and is the retailer and the distributor in our area (Philadelphia and its Suburban counties). Since we can say that PECO is the retailer and the distributor we will call them the incumbent.

When you sign with a company like Ambit Energy you change providers. At the point you change providers your distribution company stays the same that is PECO Energy. This means PECO the company you have trusted for years to provide energy for you, will be distributing the energy to you (This will not change). When there is a power outage you still call PECO for servicing those particular needs.

When you go with a provider like Ambit Energy you go under the terms and conditions of that provider as far as pricing and benefits are concerned. This is how Ambit Energy in this case services you. Nothing! There are no meters to be switched. Nobody flicks a switch. You do not have to hire an electrition to change any wiring. There is no digging. When you get your bill From PECO, it is itemized what services are paid to what party. Simply go to where it says Electric Residential Service – Current Period Detail (Page 2 of your bill), PECO will list Ambit Energy as your Provider, where it says Generation Charges. There you will see what the Ambit Energy charges will be to you. All those other charges belong to PECO for getting Ambit Energy’s service to your door. Confused by Blogs? How To Understand This and Other Interactive Blogs.

I am not writing this entry to insult the regular blog reader or bloggers. As a regular blog reader and/or writer you already understand the power of bloging for information, advertising, and entertainment. You can also post events and your favorite charities with blogs. I had for years avoided blogging until recently. That is because I did not grasp the consept until I finally took the time and learned what blogging was all about. Here I am using a blog to promote blogging and Ambit Energy.

When anyone opens a blog page you may not see your typical Website or Web page. Just like website may have many pages blogs have archives which are pages from past blog posts, entries or articles. This blog is designed to be more like your typical website others are not. Some are just Video blogs others contain pictures and text. Some people have personal or family blogs they attach to their facembook page and so on. There are two main types or sources of blogs. One comes from Blogger (free including the URL) and Wordpress. Wordpress is a free service to set up a blog, but you have to get hosting for your URL or web-address. I generally like to use Go Daddy for hosting website and Wordpress URLs. Just remember when setting up a blog there are many advantages to Blogger because Blogger is connected directly with Google. However, the advantage to Wordpress is your blog site can’t be taken down if the content is considered inappropriate in its usage, which can happen with Blogger (Google rules) in some extreme cases.

To understand what a blog is you have to understand where the word blog came from. The word blog came from the words web log. Most blogs are a series of articles written by an individual or groups in some cases. Blogs can be very diverse and interesting as they grow over time with constant updates or content as it is called. Where web pages and websites are more stable with their content, a good blog constantly evolves. I call this an Interactive blog because it will be interacting with other blogs and websites associated with Energy Deregulation and Ambit Energy. This will provide a more informative and entertaining blog getting the information to you faster than if I set up a regular website. By taking you directly to any copyrighted information and its sources this blog will comply with any copywriting statutes by law and Ambit Energy’s standards. This also gives you a chance to come back and get more information from these other sources if you desire.

When reading blogs you have to understand what keywords are all about. Some keywords are picked up by Search Engines for Search Engine placement or optimization. Other keywords will take you to downloads, other blogs, other pages in the blog, and websites. Sometimes keywords are noticeable because they are underlined by dots. These are Search Engine keywords. In this blog I generally will not make that type of keyword noticeable because I do not want to divert your attention from what I would like you to read or view. The keywords in this blog are the keywords and phrases I use to send you elsewhere for more information. The keywords and phrases in this blog are in a dark gray color and as you pass your pointer over the top of them they turn white and underlined. In other blogs the keywords are in a different color from the regular text. As you pass your pointer across those keywords or phrases they will become the same color as the text and underlined. If you click on the keyword or phrase you will go to another source for more information. To come back to this or any other blog you currently on you simply press the back arrow next to your web browser until you return to that particular or this blog. It is that simple.

Blogging is fun, informational, or can become quite lucrative. Whether you choose to be a consultant or customer with Ambit Energy or not, blogging is a great way to get your information to others. I learned about blogging from gentleman named Bob Gatchel. So take a moment and test your blogging skills out with Bob.
